Mid-day Thought: Our Sun and Our Shield

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
O Lord of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in You! -Psalm 84:11-12


The Lord God is a sun. The psalmist did not write , "He is the sun", but "a sun." The psalmist identifies with the term "sun" as meaning that the Lord God is our light; our source of strength and growth. Our sun, as the One we look to for guidance and making all things clear.
The Lord God is a shield, like no other shield. He protects us from our enemies and from ourselves. He is a shield we hold on to tight in battle for the arrows of our enemies come in strong and come in fast.
We are confident in our Lord God for He is the commander of the Armies of Heaven, the Lord of Hosts. He has all power at His fingertips. We must trust in His leadership! For all who follow Him are blessed. Amen!
